Migori women’s representative, Fatuma Full Network, has strongly defended the governor of Homa Bay, Gladys Wangaagainst ongoing criticism from Odoyo Owidi, the former non-executive chairman of the South Lake Victoria Water Development Corporation.

Owidi has repeatedly accused Wanga of neglecting his duties and prioritizing entertainment over governance.
How did Ovid criticize Wanga?
The latest dispute arose from a disagreement between Owidi and Wanga regarding organizing a memorial service for the former prime minister. Raila Odingatwo weeks after his funeral.
Ovid, politician of UDApublicly protested the incident, saying that the county was facing more pressing issues that needed to be addressed immediately.
He suggested that an annual commemoration would be more appropriate, as he accused Wanga of mismanagement and setting wrong priorities.
In his impassioned speech during the memorial service at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay on Wednesday, November 5, MP Fatuma condemned Owidi’s remarks and defended Wanga’s leadership.
He emphasized Raila’s important role in the political emergence of Wanga and described his death as a great loss to the region.
“Raila’s death cannot be compared to anything else. Wanga became the Governor of Homa Bay because of Raila, not alone,” Fatuma said.
How did Fatuma react to Odoyo Owidi’s statements?
The member of parliament, appearing to have strong emotions, questioned Owidi’s motives and criticized his attacks on Wanga, especially due to his marital status.
“As a Muslim who fears the day of judgment, I want to ask Odoyo Owidi – what do you want from Wanga, but he is married? If you continue to confront him, his husband will have to answer,” he warned.

Fatuma also warned Owidi against underestimating Wanga, whom he named as party chairman, and attributed his criticism to an insult to Raila’s legacy.
“If you continue to insult Wanga, I will confront you. When you insult Wanga, you insult Raila in his death,” he said.
Furthermore, he used the influence of Senator Oburu Oginga, implying that any move by him would have negative consequences, including being a ‘fool.’
Furthermore, Fatuma urged respect for the mourning period and warned against political interference in Raila’s death.

Kalonzo said that he will represent the united opposition during the visit, while other leaders coordinate their own schedules to pay respects to the bereaved family.
He also announced that he will present a cow as a gift to the family in honor of the ODM leader.
