Why was James Ng’ang’a not arrested for beating his partner?

In his response, Murkomen explained that no action has been taken against Ng’ang’a because no official complaint has been submitted to the law enforcement agencies.

“It has been revealed that the alleged incident involving Reverend James Ng’ang’a of the Neno Evangelism Center, where he is said to have been caught beating a congregant, happened during the night vigil prayer, known as Kesha, on the night of April 18, 2025. The incident was never reported at the Parliament Police Station, which is not any other station,” said the minister.

While acknowledging the prevalence of spiritual abuse in places of worship in Kenya, Murkomen suggested that not much action can be taken until victims choose to report.

The minister lamented that, due to loyalty to their spiritual leaders, many members of the church have corrected various forms of abuse, some of which are criminal acts.

However, he noted that the government cannot take action on their behalf if they are not ready to report the incidents to the authorities.
