In a recent interview with the Mic Check Podcast, Kamene explained that he did not attend the Kenya School of Law (KSL) because he did not want to work in law.

Kamene also claimed that he chose not to work because he found his media career more rewarding.

According to Kamene, when he was employed as a radio presenter, he would earn about six times as much as his classmates who had joined law firms.

“I didn’t go to the Kenya School of Law (KSL). I didn’t want to be a practicing lawyer because when I got to the second year and we did the clinic, I was surprised. And when you look at the money side, it didn’t make financial sense because by the time I got into the media, most of my classmates were starting work, and I was getting about six to seven times what they were getting paid. I didn’t want to practice,” Kamene said.

He also revealed that his goal is to become a lecturer at a law school and write laws that will govern the way the Kenyan media works.

“But my end is teaching, that’s why I want to learn a lot about theoretical law and the construction of laws. I want to write laws. I have been working on a project that should be a law that will define how the media in the digital space should work, but one of the problems is that the digital media in Kenya is moving forward very fast,” he said.
