The guidelines include removing the procedure for dividing secondary schools based on location or infrastructure.
How much will parents pay for boarding schools?
According to Citizen Digital, the annual fee for all public boarding schools will be KSh 53,554.
This move may force parents to dig deeper in their pockets as the burden of costs will shift to them.
This happened a few hours after KJSEA students finished their exams and prepared to enter the upper secondary school to continue their studies.

All secondary schools will be required to be re-registered as senior secondary schools, and the old division of District, County, Central County and National schools will be abolished.
How many subjects will the students study?
The Minister of Education, Julius Migos Ogamba, said that high school students will have to study seven basic subjects, including English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Science, Arts or social studies.
New courses as a social learning service will be introduced, while other courses three determined according to the professional direction that the student will choose.
Each lesson will be studied for 40 minutes a day, and in total there will be 40 lessons per week.
Basic subjects such as English, Kiswahili and Mathematics will be taught in one period only, while other subjects are allowed to have one period twice a week.
Safety rules have also been put in place, where the school administration has been instructed to ensure that no student will be sent home without a guardian after 3 am.
The Ministry has emphasized that these guidelines for students enrolling in higher secondary will be officially implemented after the KJSEA results are announced.
