A man and his wife were said to have been brutally murdered in their own home, leaving residents in shock and horror.
How old was Joseph Kahiti?
Joseph Kahiti and his wife Bethrosa Wanjiku failed to attend their church service on Sunday, November 2, which immediately raised concerns among their neighbors.
Their absence seemed surprising, especially since Kahiti, aged 90, was a pastor and was always expected to attend services.
When the young man who was known to be the one who called the pair to church could not contact them, he informed the neighbors.
Joseph Kahiti was found lying in bed
The group decided to visit their home to check on their condition.
When they arrived at the pair’s home in the early evening, the front door was locked. They were able to get in through the back door, but they encountered a horrible incident.
Inside, they found blood splattered all over the house.
Bethrosa, aged 63, was seen attacked while sitting in the living room, while her husband was found lying on the bed, soon after he was reportedly beaten to death.
“It looked like Wanjiku was killed while sitting on a chair in the living room. A 90-year-old man was in bed after being beaten,” said one neighbor.
The family of the murdered couple is speaking out
Neighbors and relatives were surprised after realizing that nothing was looted in the house, everything remained there.
“It looked like they were preparing to go to church when they were killed,” said another neighbor.
The grieving grandchildren of the pair could not control their grief after confirming the news.
“It is very sad for my father and the whole family for what happened,” said a relative who was heartbroken at the scene.
The police are investigating the murder in Nakuru
According to the Rongai Sub-county criminal investigation officer, the pair appeared to have been killed using a heavy object.
“The bodies had injuries indicating that the attackers used heavy objects. The house was covered in blood,” the officer said.
The bodies were transferred to the Nakuru morgue as the police began investigations to unravel the mystery behind the brutal murder.
“My office has launched an investigation, and we will not rest. Soon, the criminals will be brought to justice,” the official assured.

Old couple killed in Nakuru
In a similar case, an elderly couple from Mariashoni, Elburgon, Molo constituency, Pius Machogu and his wife Jerusha Kwamboka, were reportedly killed by their housekeeper on Saturday, September 13, 2025.
The two attended a church service earlier that day before returning home, where they were reportedly attacked that night.
Their bodies were found thrown in a well, which terrified the neighbors.
