The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had announced that the by-election will be held on November 27 in various areas of the country.

Why did the Kalonzo party withdraw its candidates?

The party’s candidate for Magarini constituency, Kilifi county, Samuel Nzai, announced that they will support the candidate of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), Stanley Kenga.

In addition, the party led by Kalonzo also withdrew its Narok Township ward candidate to continue supporting the DCP candidate.

They said that the action is aimed at consolidating votes to win the candidates of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) led by the President William Rutotogether with the candidates of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

“We thank Mr. Kalonzo Musyoka and the Wiper party for agreeing to put our candidates together, because if their votes are added up, it is a sure victory in Magarini. We at DCP are very touched by that generous step,” said the former vice president Rigathi Gachagua.

“Again, we thank the Wiper party for that generous decision in Narok Township, for giving way to DCP,” added Gachagua.

The former vice president, Gachagua, said that the DCP party also removed its candidates in Malava and Mbere-Kaskazini areas, where its candidates withdrew from the race.
