How many people visit Raila’s grave every day?
According to his will, Raila was buried within 72 hours of his death — a time many Kenyans felt was too short to mourn a man whose legacy will live on for generations, and whose influence shaped Kenya’s political history for decades.
According to the administrator of Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, the area of his grave has become a place of pilgrimage, attracting about 2,000 mourners every day, who come to console his widow, children and relatives, and lay flowers in his honor.
Monday, November 3, a delegation of women leaders including former governor of Kitui Charity Ngilu, leader of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) Martha Karuaand PLP general secretary Asha Bashir, joined other guests to pay their respects.
What did Ngilu say after visiting Raila’s grave?
Ngilu, who was not seen in public for a while until after Raila’s death, shared emotional photos from the grave site and wrote a touching message.
“Kenya has become poorer without Raila’s presence. History will judge Raila Odinga with great gentleness and respect,” he said.

“The work of liberation is not over, it is up to us to carry it with confidence and trust,” added Karua.
At the same time, the period of mourning is expected to last for at least 40 days, during which mourners will engage in cultural and meditation activities, sing Raila’s favorite songs, listen to his speeches again, and discuss how to implement his vision in practice.

On the other hand, the leader of the Wiper party Kalonzo Musyoka revealed that the opposition force, led by former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, has planned to visit Raila’s grave in Bondo on Thursday, November 6, to pay their last respects.
He confirmed that Raila’s family has approved the visit and encouraged other opposition leaders as well as supporters of the late ODM leader to join the procession.
Kalonzo emphasized that the event will also be a cultural gathering to celebrate Raila’s legacy and Kenya’s rich diversity.
The confirmation came after reports claimed that Gachagua was threatened not to step on Bondo following his partner’s remarks interpreted as celebrating Raila’s death.
