Speaking to his followers in Kilifi, the television evangelist said he had planned to fly from Mombasa to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi on the same plane but changed his plans at the last minute.
According to him, a strong spiritual warning prompted him to cancel the flight and instead travel by train Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).
Was Pastor Ezekiel fit to board the plane that crashed for him?
“I was supposed to be on the plane that crashed in Diani. It was meant for me, not them. I knew if I got on it, I would die with it,” Pastor Ezekiel told the believers during the church service.
He said he had already bought plane tickets for himself and his wife, but the couple did not use them.
“At midnight, I was still here praying with some of our believers. I told my wife, ‘We should visit your house, and we should travel by plane, but we will not arrive. There will be new news that Ezekiel is not there,'” he narrated.
The preacher explained that their cars had already been driven to Nairobi to wait for them in the field.
Traveling by road was not an option for him because, as he said, “getting caught in a car is easier.”

How Pastor Ezekiel narrowly avoided Diani’s plane crash
Ezekiel said he later prayed about it and felt great faith to avoid the trip. He then called the person who normally handles his travel arrangements.
“I told him to check if there were seats available on the train. When he confirmed that there were, I instructed him to reserve two seats. He reminded me that we already had plane tickets and that we rarely use other routes, but I insisted that if we travel by plane, we would not reach our destination. We would appear on the news,” he said.
