Emotional moments have been captured in viral and heartbreaking photos as mourners view the bodies of passengers who died in the tragic accident in Gatanga, Murang’a county.

The accident happened on Saturday night, October 26, along the Chomo-Kahunyo Road at Wacengu Bridge.
How did the Murang’a accident happen?
A 14-seater public service vehicle (PSV) was carrying family members who were heading home after attending a dowry ceremony in Nazareth, Kiambu county.
For luck bad, just a few meters from where they went, the driver realized that the brakes of the matatu were damaged, causing panic among the passengers.

He tried to control the car by turning it into the Kiama River, but the van plunged into the water, killing six passengers—all from the same family.

Tears flowed profusely and sobs filled the air during the heartbreaking episode as mourners struggled to control their emotions.
Many were uncomfortable as they struggled to accept the great loss of their loved ones.
Some mourners were seen being taken away from the scene while crying helplessly for the deceased.
They were assisted by the Kenyan Red Cross team, which compassionately provided support to the broken families.

A third grader survives an accident, rescues the survivors
The little boy who survived the accident with his mother narrated what happened shortly after the accident.
Boniface Njoroge, who was sitting in the back of the damaged van, said he immediately jumped out of the van after it hit the river.
It was not easy to get out, as water had already started to fill the car as the survivors struggled to find a way to escape.
The nine-year-old managed to sneak through the window and ran to seek help from nearby boda boda riders.
His mother, Alice, who was sitting in front of threehe was worried and afraid that his son had died.

Alice loses her husband in an accident
He knew he was sitting in the back with another boy, and when he asked about him, he was told he was not in the car.
Alice was later relieved to discover that her Third Grade son had gone to get help—an act of quick thinking that helped save many.
Sadly, she lost her husband in the accident and was faced with the painful task of raising their child alone.
Social media users also congratulated the little boy for his heroic act, writing heartfelt messages in his honor.
