Nairobi: Rose Otieno, wife of former Homa Bay County senator Otieno Kajwang’, has died, TUKO.co.ke has confirmed.

According to sources who wished to remain anonymous, Rose died on Thursday, October 30.

Rose worked as a lecturer at Kenyatta University and chaired the alumni council for a time.

What happened to Otieno Kajwang’s widow?

The scholar eulogized her husband with love when he died in 2014 and narrated their love story.

Rose warmly recounted the early days of their relationship, sharing how their paths first crossed.

“I was living with my sister in Buruburu and I was on bus number 58. While I was driving, I saw this tall man with a bright smile. When I sat down, he came and asked me to sit next to him. Just five minutes later, the bus broke down,” he remembered.

They switched to another bus, but it also broke down, forcing them to take another trip.

How did Otieno Kajwang’ meet his wife?

Rose then continued their love story, which began with the unusual events of the day, eventually leading them to a local meeting.

“There was a campaign meeting at the Buruburu shopping center that day, and I told him I usually attend because I took my sister’s little son to study the Bible. He said, ‘I go there too,’ but later I found out he never went,” he said with a laugh.

“Gerald was a very funny man,” Rose added, causing the crowd to laugh.

His story painted a vivid picture of Kajwang’s sense of humor and cheerfulness.

Although she had experienced great tragedy, Rose remained hopeful.

“I loved my husband, and I still love him. I know one day we will meet again in heaven because he was a good man, and also handsome. I will miss him,” he concluded, his voice full of love and sadness.

According to a source who wished to remain anonymous, Rose had been battling cancer and had previously recovered before her death.

In 2010, Raila was hospitalized in Nairobi following a head injury, and doctors performed a procedure to reduce the pressure on his brain caused by a vein leak.
