Baringo Residents Interrupt William Ruto, Ask Him About Gideon Moi: “Where Is He?”

President William Ruto visited Baringo county on Tuesday, October 28, where he addressed residents in an effort to garner support for his 2027 presidential campaign.

He talked about how he contacted the national chairman of KANU Gideon Moi and encouraged political reconciliation, describing their discussions as a time of mutual respect and maturity.

Did Baringo residents disrupt Ruto’s speech?

It all started when Ruto tried to convince Baringo residents that he had a conversation with Gideon and they reached a mutual agreement.

This was after residents interrupted his speech and asked him about the whereabouts of the politician.

“Where is he? Where is he?” residents shouted.

In response, Ruto said that he had visited the county on his behalf, but the residents did not want to hear any of it.

“No! No!” they shouted while waving their hands to show their disagreement with Ruto’s remarks.

Trying to calm the crowd, Ruto promised that he would visit the area with Gideon as requested.

Furthermore, he urged people to remain united and not accept any form of division, citing the proverb that unity is strength.

“We said we do not want ethnic divisions. We have agreed to walk together to unite the country. We said that we do not want hatred. The things that cause us great loss are when people are divided,” Ruto said.

Is Gideon Moi running for the Baringo county senatorial seat?

The leader of the country further revealed that Gideon had resigned from the upcoming Baringo senatorial by-election.

Ruto said that he was the one who asked the politician personally to do so.

He further revealed that he had contacted Moi with the aim of encouraging political reconciliation, describing the talks as a time of mutual respect and maturity.

According to Ruto, Gideon accepted the request as a goodwill gesture that was meant to ease political tension in the Rift Valley region.

The President said that he asked Gideon to pave the way for the youth in the area to take over the area.

Ruto added that Gideon’s decision was a sign of leadership and cooperation, saying that it will strengthen the government’s focus on infrastructure development and economic growth in the region.

Ruto is promoting the UDA senatorial candidate

Ruto also took the opportunity to urge the residents of Baringo to support the UDA candidate Kiprono Chemitei in the referendum scheduled for November 27.

He said that Chemitei had passed the test and was like his son.

The by-election was seen as a comeback for Gideon after his defeat in the 2022 General Election against UDA’s Samwuel Chepkonga.
