Kisumu: 4 Suspects Alleged To Steal Guns During Raila Wabamba’s Funeral, Weapons Found

The officer of the General Service Unit (GSU) was arrested by Governor Fernandes Barasa of Kakamega.

How the governor’s bodyguard lost his pistol

He had accompanied his boss to the ground of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) where the last funeral service of the deceased Raila Odinga was held on Sunday, October 19.

The officer confiscated his Jericho pistol which had 15 bullets.

State investigators immediately launched a manhunt for the suspects who escaped with the gun.

On Saturday, October 25, the suspects were arrested in Kisumu by plainclothes officers.

They were arrested in Mbeme Slum, East Kisumu.

Officers from the Kasagam Police Station reportedly conducted an intelligence-led operation after being tipped off about the whereabouts of the suspects in the slum area.

The four are currently in custody while the investigation is completed before they are brought to court.

In other news, chaos followed the funeral of the late Raila at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo.

How rogue mourners desecrated Raila’s funeral

Shortly after Raila’s family and a group of distinguished guests left the Kang’o Ka Jaramogi burial ground, a wave of mourners flooded the area, leading to violent incidents.

His funeral was held with dignity in a private ceremony attended by close relatives, the President William Rutoformer president Uhuru, senior military officers, and prominent religious figures.

The event was deliberately suspended, with the public encouraged to watch from nearby large screens.

The family had made it clear that they wanted to say goodbye quietly to allow time for private reflection and mourning.

However, as soon as the official procession left, the calm at the cemetery was shattered as the crowd stormed in, disrupting the gloomy atmosphere.

The floral tributes placed at the grave were destroyed, with some mourners taking them.

Was Raila Odinga’s grave swept clean?

A day after the mob raided the grave, a young Kenyan was seen cleaning it.

A video posted on TikTok by a user named Baba Chelsea captured the man carefully cleaning the grave after riotous mourners left the area in chaos.

As indicated earlier, some people were carrying flowers meant to honor the deceased.

In the photo, Father Chelsea is seen gently walking around the grave and re-placing the flowers that had been carelessly thrown aside.

His silent efforts restored the atmosphere, although the flower bouquet had lost its original beauty.
