Arsenal fans visit Raila Odinga’s grave in Kang’o Ka Jaramogi

It has been a week since the former Prime Minister was buried in a grand ceremony in Siaya County.

President William Ruto and Mama Ida Odinga led the mourners in the funeral service held at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology before a private ceremony at the family burial ground.

The family has continued to receive guests throughout the week and on Sunday morning, it was the turn of Arsenal fans in the country.

Raila was a known supporter and die-hard supporter of the North London club. He also supported it Gor Mahia inside, the club he played for was still called Luo Union. He later became the patron of the club.

Arsenal fans gathered around Raila’s grave and sang the club’s anthem before chanting the name ‘Arsenal’.

“Arsenal fans from all over the country were this morning in Kang’o ka Jaramogi to pay their respects to their fellow Gunner, the late Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga. The late Odinga was a paid member of Arsenal FC and was a great supporter and fan of the team,” read a statement from ODM.

AFTV recognizes Raila Odinga

Arsenal Fan Network, AFTV, has previously released a touching statement following Raila’s death.

“Everyone at AFTV is deeply saddened by the passing of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga. As an avid Arsenal supporter and friend of our community, his enthusiasm and commitment inspired many. His legacy will live on, not only among Arsenal fans but across Kenya, where his leadership and love for the game touched many lives. Rest in peace, Mr. Odinga. Thank you for being an amazing part of the Arsenal family.”

What’s next for Arsenal?

The Gunners are enjoying a high-profile streak as they look to end a long trophy drought.

They beat Fulham last week, the day before Raila’s burial, to go top of the Premier League table.

In the middle of the week, they beat it Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and maintain their 100% record.

This evening, they face Crystal Palace in what is expected to be an exciting London derby given the impressive work Oliver Glasner has done with Palace so far.

In a different story, Arsenal reaped millions of shillings after beating Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

The Gunners are still unbeaten this season after previous wins against Athletic Bilbao and Olympiakos.
