Former prime minister Raila Odinga died in India on Wednesday, October 15, while undergoing treatment.

The veteran politician, who had written his name in the history books as the father of democracy and devolution, died at the age of 80.
It has now been revealed that Raila had jokingly hinted that he would die at the age of 80, referring to the conduct and history set by his ancestors.
Homa Bay Town MP, Peter Kaluma, revealed that during his conversation with Raila, he joked about his clan’s history and predicted that he would most likely follow suit.

Kaluma wanted the former prime minister to attend the three-year anniversary of his late father after missing the funeral due to previous commitments in South Korea. During the conversation, the speaker told Raila that in their family lineage, they had a history of dying at the age of 81, which prompted the former prime minister to share his.
“I joked to him that you know my father died at the age of 81, my grandfather died at the age of 81, and my great grandfather died at the age of 81. Then I told him that in our family, as soon as I turn 80, and when I reach 81, I know I say goodbye,” said Kaluma.
According to the ODM MP, Raila jokingly replied that in his family, they die at the age of 80.
“Dad joked that ours is 80 years old. Now looking back, I ask, what was Dad saying? He pretended to be a pen.”
The third term MP said Raila had shared many wise things in the last meetings he held with them, but those words started to have meaning after his death.

The Homa Bay Town MP had previously revealed that Raila, in one of the meetings, talked about falling and dying three times.
He said those words only made sense after it was announced that the former prime minister had died and died in India.
Kaluma also claimed that Raila gave them instructions about how he wants the ODM party to be managed and the direction the Luo community should take in his absence.
He promised to share that information with the community in the next 30 days.
Raila was buried on Sunday, October 19, at Kang’o ka Jaramogi there BondoSiaya County. The body was buried next to his father’s grave, according to his wishes.
