Speaking in his native language at the funeral ceremony in his county on Tuesday, October 21, the county boss indicated that the death of the former prime minister was a situation answered for the Mt Kenya area.
He emphasized that the presence of Raila in the administration of the President William Ruto It has deprived Mt Kenya of development and resources, which were instead directed to Western Kenya and Nyanza, where Raila came from.
The governor noted that Raila’s death was God’s intervention in favor of the region.
In its joint statement, the opposition denied involvement with Kahiga’s ideas, after some people claimed that the governor was speaking on behalf of some members of the opposition camp.
Through his spokesperson Mukhisa Kituyi, the opposition has condemned the governor’s remarks, which they said are tantamount to hate speech and which were not approved by any member of the faction.
“Our attention has been drawn to why, quite frankly, it is the very definition of hate speech as clearly defined and defined in our Constitution, 2010, Article 33 precisely. Even with the governor’s apology and resignation from the top post of the Council of Governors (CoG), the opposition did not approve.
According to them, the apology was not enough, nor was his departure from the leadership of the CoG.
The wing wanted Kahiga to be controlled by the CoG.
“In our view it is not enough for Governor Kahiga to issue his hastily written apology which included his resignation as the vice chairman of the Council of Governors (CoG). The CoG should, in the public interest, first act quickly and censure the Nyeri Governor for his clearly controlled comments which are aimed at fueling tribal wars,” said one newspaper.
The statement was adopted by all parties forming the opposition; ie DCP (led by Rigathi Gachagua), Wiper (Kalonzo Musyoka), PLP (Martha Karua) Dap-K (Eugene Wamalwa) and DP (Justin Muturi).

At the same time, they claimed that the governor was playing some unknown lords who would benefit from the ethnic tension that arose from his speech.
While they wanted him to agree to be used to incite hostility between the Jaluo and Kikuyu communities, the opposition asked the county head to name those who may have sent him on the mission.

Why Mutahi Kahiga resigned CoG
Meanwhile, the governor of Nyeri resigned from his post as deputy chairman of the CoG.
He said he was responsible for the backlash from Kenyans following his remarks.
But even after his resignation, the CoG under the chairmanship of Governor Ahmed Abdullahi of Wajir county, decided to expel him from his post.
Kahiga was elected to the post earlier this month. His position will be chosen at the appropriate time as announced by the council.
