“Plant a tree for Father”

Serena, a Grade Two student, had seen her parents cry along with millions of Kenyans.

He didn’t understand politics well, but he understood love, grief, and inheritance.

His words, “The voice of the roaring lion of Africa, the real son of Africa,” they symbolize how even the smallest of hearts feel the loss of a person who impressed many generations.

In the last lines of her poem, Serena makes a gentle plea:

“As a lover of the environment, I would like everyone to plant trees, to remember the Father, God bless Kenya.”

It is a simple but serious call from a child, which is completely in line with Raila Odinga’s passion for environmental protection and clean energy.
