Speaking on Friday, October 17, Uhuru talked about his friendship with the late political veteran, apparently describing it as friendly.

Did Uhuru promise to take care of Raila’s family?

Uhuru promised to take care of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader’s family now that he has passed away.

“My, my brother is to pray to God to help you rest in peace with others who fought for the country. I want you to know that we will remember you and promise to fulfill what you could not. Your family is now ours. We will continue to take care of them. We will stand with them all the time,” Uhuru said.

He also talked about his friendship with Raila, explaining that they would be served a meal after their political activities.

This caused the crowd to burst into laughter, prompting him to clarify his remarks.

“I want to tell you a short story. You know, sometimes when we left work when we were just cold, we were given a little something, why are you laughing? When I talk about a little thing, I mean porridge and tea,” Uhuru explained as the crowd burst into laughter.

The Jubilee party leader said that, during their small talk, he and Raila would often wonder what their predecessors, the late Jaramogi Oginga and former President Jomo Kenyatta, discussed when they sat together.

However, he said that he knows now that Raila has joined their predecessors, and they are already negotiating.

The crowd cheered when he said that he was not talking about them because he wanted to die soon, but out of curiosity.

“I’m not saying that because I’m in a hurry to join them, no, I pray to God to help me live a long life, however, I know when our time comes you will be there to tell us which way to go,” he said jokingly.
