Raila died in India where he had traveled for medical treatment and according to reports he fell during his morning walk.
What did Rosemary Odinga say about Raila?
Dressed in black, Rosemary accompanied her two daughters while paying respect to her father.
He narrated how he learned about his father’s death when his brother Raila Odinga Junior called him.
“Today I don’t have much to say, this is a sad day for me and I know you all are also sad, because he was our father. There is a lot I can say about my father. He was my mentor, friend and someone who understood me, my children and my brothers. I remember the day I received a message while I was sitting at the table, I had finished breakfast, my brother Junior asked me and asked me and then asked me?” He said.
According to him he wondered if he should sit down, because he was told to make sure he was still.
“I was very confused. Junior told me that our father is no longer with us, it is still very difficult. It is very painful. (It hurts) even as a family. So today we are here to join you in mourning him. And I just want to say thank you for standing with us and may God bless us and give us strength,” he said.
He also wished his mother strength as she goes through the sudden loss of their father and their ex-father.
