The former MP for Kibera attended Arsenal’s games at Emirates Stadium in London. The most recent, according to his social media posts, was in 2022.

Why Raila Odinga left Manchester United and started to support Arsenal

However, before supporting The Gunners, Raila supported them Manchester United and Liverpool before realizing that his heart was in the red side of North London.

In an earlier interview in 2022, Raila explained that he stopped supporting Manchester United after fans were banned from their home ground due to violence.

In an interview with the Nation, Raila did not give a date, but our check shows that in 1971, United were banned from playing two home matches in Manchester after hooligans threw knives at the stadium.

“I started as a Manchester United fan, and it wasn’t until the club’s fans had a problem and because of the violence that they were banned by FIFA, and the club played in an empty stadium for a year. Then I moved briefly to Liverpool and eventually found my way to Arsenal.”

Raila was later attracted by Arsenal and their famous manager Arsene Wenger. Wenger joined Arsenal in 1996 and became their most successful manager, including an unbeaten 2003/2004 season.

“I am Arsene Wenger, a citizen of Arsenal and we are the only club that has produced undefeated teams.”

2004 was the last time Arsenal won the Premier League. Mikel Arteta’s side have come close three times in the last three seasons. They currently lead the table with 16 points after seven games, one ahead of Liverpoolbefore returning to the league.
