His body was discovered on Friday evening, October 10, at his residence in Karen, Nairobi.
Authorities have not yet identified the full cause of death.
Munene served during the reign of the former governor of Nairobi Mike Sonko.
He was a major witness in the case of ongoing corruption involving the county government and Web Tribe Ltd, the company responsible for JamboPay.
Munene has been testifying to support Sonko, claiming that the former governor opposed the contract given to JamboPay under the leadership of his predecessor, Evans Kidero.
The case refers to a controversial agreement aimed at keeping county payments in digital, with reports showing that a lot of money may have been misused through the forum.
Following the news of Munene’s death, Sonko expressed his sadness and raised doubts about the situation, suggesting that the great interest related to the case may have planned the case to weaken him.
“Munene’s death occurred just a week after testifying as my defense witness in a case, where I was wrongly charged with the WebTribe Pay contract. Sonko said.
He claimed that efforts to intimidate him included the murder of people scheduled to testify in his defense.
Sonko also claimed that several other Witnesses received threats aimed at discouraging them in court.
Despite this progress, he emphasized his commitment to prove innocence.
Munene’s body was transported to Lee Funeral Home.
