Safaricom announces to customers about the temporary closure of all shops in Nairobi, other cities

  • Safaricom released a notice listing all shops to be closed on Wednesday, October 8, and Thursday, October 9

The largest telecommunications company in Kenya, Safaricomit has announced the temporary closing of all shops in Nairobi and other cities.

At Wednesday’s notice, October 8, the company said its stores in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area, Mombasa, Malindi, Diani, Machakos, Kitui, Thika, Nyeri, NanyukiEmbu, Flowers, Meru, and Garissa will be closed on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

Shops in the mountainous areas of Kenya, Coast, East and North East will begin closing early on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, starting at 11:30 am.

Telephone communications explained that temporary closure would allow staff to attend an internal event organized in Nairobi.

“To make sure the service continues during this period, we encourage you to use the following alternatives: Good chatbot available on our digital systems, Safaricom Contact Center and approved Safaricom stores near our retail stores. We apologize for any inconvenience and we appreciate your understanding,” The notice said.

What did Safaricom improve?

On Monday, September 22, Safaricom improved its system of M-money To increase efficiency for millions of customers.

During regular repairs that were planned in advance, all M-Pesa services, as well as timely purchase of chat, will not be temporarily available.

This was the third coordinated renovation of the M-Pesa Safaricom Forum in 2025.

The first occurred on March 24, 2025, when services were temporarily interrupted for approximately 30 minutes between 1:00 and 1:30 am.

Safaricom claimed at the time that repairs were part of his efforts to ensure the customer was dependent, safe and secure.

Kenyans in recent days shared their concerns about the eligibility of M-Kwari loans.

Safaricom explained that a M-Kwari loan is not available to anyone who has had a M-Pesa line for over 10 years, noting that several factors are being considered.
