Such a legal action, headed by a prominent attorney Danstan Omari Along with Samson Nyaberi and Shadrack Wambui, it opposes what they describe as an extreme and unrealistic financial burden ‘imposed on parents.
The school, which has more than 1,400 students, ordered each parent to pay KSh 49,696 before their children started education.
Why did the Litein Boys PTA file a case in court?
According to the PTA, the destructive component, including the burnt boarding, should be paid for the government’s infrastructure funding, not by parental contributions.
They also questioned the transparency of the compensation process and claimed that the figure was reached without adequate consultation.
“The council of governors demanded a state -of -state testing expert from Nakuru; On his own, he came up with a KSh 99 million compensation program. The repairs cost KSh 69 million, with teachers being paid KSh 30 million compensation, ” They said.
According to Omari, some parents have gone a long way, accusing the school’s leadership – including the head of the school – deliberately stirring up chaos to justify the fines.
“Is it Luck The bad thing continues to happen and parents are sentenced to pay? “Asked Omari.” The first strike parents paid for the same, the second time they did the same, this is now the third time, and the style is questionable. Parents think the head of the school and the school leadership are the ones who initiate this strike for the benefit of the payment. “
Due to their independent assessment, the PTA recommends that each student pay no more than KSh 10,000.
In addition to financial issues, the parents also opposed the school’s decision to have fourth -year students to report, despite their next national exams.
What are the Litein Boys’ PTA requirements?
Through Omari and his team of lawyers, the parents added that the total value of all school infrastructure – including grass and trees – would not exceed KSh 100 million.
The PTA is now claiming a complete list of school properties and the analysis of what was destroyed.
“These teachers are exploiting students, and that’s why we move to court immediately to stop them,” Omari added.
The case is expected to raise more questions about accountability, transparency and how parents are dealing with money at school.
