Gachagua accused the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of associating them with baseless topics about the health status of the ODM leader rather than addressing important issues.
On Sunday, October 5, the Raila Secretariat cited allegations about the deterioration of its health as “baseless propaganda,” claiming that political opponents including Gachagua and Kalonzo were behind the rumors.

The allegations emerged in the midst of the rise of public rumors about Raila after failing to attend a number of public events. The last time he appeared in public it was Friday, October 3, and earlier on September 22.
What did Gachagua say about the allegations of illness of Raila Odinga?
Speaking at the United Opposition campaign rallies in Katangi and Kwa-Vonza, Machakos and Kitui counties, Gachagua said he was surprised by ODM allegations.
He questioned how he and Kalonzo were associated with Raila’s condition, asking if they were diseases that cause disease.
“How are Raila’s diseases related to Kalonzo or I? Is Kalonzo a bacterium or virus?”Asked Gachagua.
Speaking aside in a television interview on Sunday, Gachagua said ODM had lost values and that he had no interest in personal life or Raila’s political activities.
“I was surprised when I heard the allegations. ODM has collapsed morally. He said.
The former vice president stressed that illness is not a mistake and officials should not take excessive action regarding their health speculation.
He cited his example saying he was ill during a hearing in a case of dismissing the Senate and being forced to be rushed to hospital.
“If a leader is said to be ill but is safe, there is no need to give long information. You can only come out in public and things are over. He said.

Is ODM planning to confuse Kalonzo with Luo’s supporters?
Gachagua also accused Raila’s team of sparking confusion by saying he was abroad without explaining where he was or what he was doing. He said the secrecy only strengthened the rumors.
He also claimed that the ODM statement was a political conspiracy to bring divisions between Luo supporters of Raila and Kalonzo, who believes he can gain support in 2027 due to his loyalty to Raila’s presidential bid.
However, Gachagua wished Raila good health and longevity, vowing to defeat the President William Ruto and the former Prime Minister in 2027.
“May God give Raila a long life and good health. Even I wish he could continue to help Ruto until 2027 to win all politically.”He said.
In another statement, the Wiper party strongly responded to ODM’s claim that Kalonzo is part of a group that spread rumors about Raila’s health.
Kalonzo denied the allegations saying they were unfounded and referred to it as a political approach aimed at turning attention from ODM’s internal problems.
He said the party was trying to involve him in his internal disputes, insisting that he had no reason to wish him a misdemeanor for their long political history and cooperation.
He also denied allegations that he was involved in Raila’s failure to run for the seat of the Chairman of the African Union (AUC).
