The MP made the call on Thursday, October 2, while attending the funeral of former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno in Migori County.
Grandpa expressed his concern that Kenyans could be detained in foreign land without open charges, referring to the issue as unacceptable.
He spoke directly to Mudavadi, who was present at the funeral, saying it was his responsibility as a Kenyan chief diplomat to speak to the president Uganda Yoweri Museveni and demanded that the activists be released immediately.
“I have seen the Secretary -General of the Cabinet here. When we finish this funeral, I want Mudavadi to call Museveni and release Kenyans,” Grandpa said to a crowd of people cheering.
The activists identified by the name of Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo were reportedly kidnapped at Kireka’s oil station, Kampala.
Their disappearance has sparked criticism from human rights organizations, which have raised concerns about the escalation of kidnapping cases and forcing people to disappear across East Africa. The groups have called on both governments to take immediate action, warning that such events are undermining regional stability and cooperation.
Grandpa more asked Mudavadi to intervene in the long -standing conflict of Migingo Island, where Kenyan fishermen often suffer from violence and restrictions in the controversial waters of Lake Victoria. According to the MP, the frustration of Kenyans in the area is the same as being neglected by the government.
