A South African Ambassador is found dead outside the hotel one day after disappearing

South African Ambassador to France, Nkosinathi Emmanuel ‘Nathi’ Mthethwa, was found dead on Tuesday, September 30, outside the Hyatt Regency hotel in Paris’ Porte Millot district.

French prosecutors confirmed that the 58 -year -old diplomat had kept a room on the 22nd floor, where the window was open.

The body of Mthethwa was discovered outside the hotel, resulting in a rapid investigation of the French authorities.

Preliminary results show that he fell from a high building without being involved with a third party.

His wife had reported his disappearance last evening, Monday, September 29, after receiving a controversial message from him.

Cyril Tamaphosa cries for Nathi Mthethwa

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his sadness over the death of the ambassador, saying:

“The death of Ambassador Nathi Mthethwa is a time of great sadness in which the government and the people stand beside the family of Mthethwa.

During his final term of service, he facilitated the strengthening of relations between South Africa and the French Republic, which has benefited individuals and traders in both countries and developed our cooperation in the international sphere. May his soul rest in peace. ”

The French authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of Mthethwa’s death.

What position did Nathi Mthethwa hold?

A veteran of South African politics, Mthethwa held several ministerial positions for many years.

According to the South African embassy in France, he served as Minister of Arts and Culture from 2014 to 2019, and later became Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture until 2023.

Earlier, he was the Minister of Police from 2009 to 2014 and the Minister of Security and Security from 2008 to 2009.

He also played an important role in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, serving on the board of the regional organizing committee.

Mthethwa was the chief leader of the African National Congress (ANC) from 2007 to 2022 and had a long history of activism, including secretly working with the ANC military wing during apartheid.

He was arrested during the 1989 dangerous situation.

Recently his name appeared in the Military Commission during the evidence of Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who claimed that Mthethwa tried to protect former Criminal Investigations Chief Richard Mdluli from being charged.

Other Information: South African Ambassador to Kenya, Johannes Mninwa Mahlangu, died on August 24 on his way to hospital.

Mahlangu left a prominent inheritance as a student activist, MP, and diplomat. He played an important role in creating a South African democratic future, serving in a historic team that drafted a post -apartheid constitution.

Throughout his life, Mahlangu continued to commit to public service and diplomacy, including principles that defined South Africa’s transition to democracy.
