Eunice Muthoni Kangethe, a mother of four children, noted that the day she was supposed to bury her father, they were left without a coffin or transportation.
What happened to Eunice Muthoni’s father?
Muthoni’s father was involved in a fatal road accident on December 24, 2024, as they planned Christmas the next day.
He explained that his father was hit by a motorcycle, after which the car hit him while lying on the road.
“Despite the tragic incident, my father did not die immediately, he was taken to hospital and was admitted, my mother phoned me and told me what happened, and I was disappointed because my children and I planned to go to the village to celebrate Christmas and see people we have not seen for a whole year,” He said.
Concerned and became apart from the hospital, he sent his mother the money he had saved for vacation so that his father could undergo tests and treatment.
According to a mother of four, doctors said her father was bleeding in the head and chest.
Sadly, the man died on December 26, leaving them sad.
How did Muthoni’s friend cheat on him?
As the firstborn, Muthoni was given the responsibility of leading his father’s funeral arrangements.
He had never arranged a funeral before and needed all the help he could get. That’s how he shared with his friend Ann in the process.
Ann and Muthoni were in the same party, and after hearing the death of her father, Ann offered to help her make a lot of money for a coffin and a corpse package.
The mother of four claimed Ann said she knew a man who could give her a beautiful gift including a flower, a car, a coffin, and a tent.
“A few days after talking to Ann, a man named Mwangi phoned me and introduced himself as a man sent by Ann. He sent me several coffins on WhatsApp, and I took one. Said Muthoni.
The next days, he sent KSh 20,000 to Mwangi as a deposit to start preparing the coffin, hoping to remove the deposit eventually.
However, he later received a call from Ann claiming he was giving the man a difficult time by sending a little money, as he had sent KSh 20,000 in two phases.
“Ann insisted we meet because he claimed I was not a good customer and risked his reputation because he directed me. So I met him and gave him 30,000 KSh because of his trust, meaning now I owed Mwangi KSh 10,000,” He participated.

What happened on the funeral day?
Mwangi phoned Muthoni the day before the funeral, saying he had spent a lot of money and needed to add at least 2,000 KSh to simplify his movement.
Since he still owed his KSh 10,000, he decided to use him half of it to reduce the remaining amount.
However, the next morning, Muthoni could not find Mwangi on the phone. It was turned off.
At first, he thought he was asleep, but about 7am, he was scared and phoned Ann to help her find Mwangi.
“He kept telling me not to worry and that Mwangi was on his way. But when it was eight o’clock in the morning, I realized I was deceived. I tried to even borrow money from Ann to fix the situation because my family was waiting for me, but he refused to say he had no money. Said Muthoni.
The funeral that was scheduled to start at 8 am was delayed until the afternoon because the mother of four succeeded in collecting the money needed by 11am.
He took a loan of Ksh 80,000 from his landlord, one of his uncles bought a coffin already made, and rented a car carrying a corpse. He finally managed to take his father’s body home for a funeral.
Ann still insisted that he did not know what he was in Mwangi, despite Muthoni reporting the incident at the police station.
“The police continue to tell me to wait, and to this day, they have never arrested Mwangi or Ann. I still have a debt of KSh 80,000 plus interest, which I agreed to pay after delayed money,” He said.
