Machakos – The Criminal Investigation Department (DCI) has invaded a human trafficking network allegedly lobbying Kenyans for fake promises of good work in Moscow.

The fraud was revealed after a team of various security agencies launched a target operation, following reports by Kenyans being deprived of paying large sums of money for non -existing jobs.

Instead of getting the promised jobs, many ended up being registered in the Russian army, where some have been killed, while others returned with trauma or with psychological problems.

According to DCIThe success of the operation was due to cooperation between different security sector entities.

“It was confirmed that Kenyans were cheated on paying large quantities to find employment in Russia but ended up fighting for the forces Ukraine Where others are reportedly killed by those who survive to carry suffering or psychological injuries, “DCI reported.

Investigators said they had collected evidence showing that desperate job seekers were being charged between Ksh1.65 million and KSh2.31 million for visas, transportation, accommodation and equipment, and guaranteed monthly wages.

What did Machakos’s organization do?

On Wednesday, September 24, detectives from the DCI national criminal unit raided the Great Wall Apartments building in the Athi River area, Machakos County, where 21 Kenyans were locked in one house while they were waiting to be dealt with on their way to Russia.

During the operation, officials arrested Edward Kamau Gituku, who is believed to coordinate registration and transportation activities.

Investigators said the victims had been scheduled to travel on different dates between September and October.

Available during the invasion are passports, check books, work offer letters from many countries, and agreements that proposed a formal recruitment structure.

One document signaled a one -year partnership between Global Face Human Resource Ltd and Ecopillars Manpower Ltd, signed to hire, filter and send Kenyans to Russia.

Authority suspects that the fraud involves celebrities who helped prevent the operation from being discovered early.

Among those who fell on the racket was Evans Kibet, whose story was spread across the internet after being seen on a video clip claiming to be a prisoner of war in Ukraine.

Kibet said he traveled to Russia believing he was going for athletics, and eventually registered in the Russian army.

Ukraine’s media later reported that Kibet was arrested after surrendering to the Ukraine army in Kharkiv province while serving in the Russian column.
