Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Kenyan head coach Julius Kirwa said that something had to change, explaining how the team was selected.

“I have to congratulate our well -performing female athletes despite the humidity in Tokyo. When we chose the team, we did not focus on gender, but all those who reached the qualifying mark required by the world athletics.”

Selection criteria must be changed

Kirwa missed the words to describe Kenya’s poor play in the 5000 -meter and 10,000 men’s race, but shared his original views.

“I will tell the federation we need to change the criteria for how we choose our athletes for these events, you find the athlete is running on the road and then he is selected to run by following the stream in the tournament.
