1. Nation today
The Swahili newspaper reports that senators have called on the Ethics and Anti -Corruption Commission (EACC) to expand its investigation into Trans Nzoia County to cover revenue collection, citing serious theft within the system.
This comes after governor George Natembeya acknowledged before the Senate’s public accounting committee in the Senate County that the gaps allowed people to raise public money.
The county report showed KSh261 million was collected from various sources of revenue against the target of KSh643 million, without including hospital fees.
The revenue supply commission estimates the county capacity to be KSh2 billion annually.

Senators reported the errors, such as the county collecting only KSh38,000 from slaughterhouses throughout the year, equivalent to only 950 cows killed in all centers. Governor Natembeya admitted the figures signaled theft and lack of effectiveness.
Committee chairman Moses Kajwang ‘said more than Ksh20 million were stolen and forced the EACC to identify accountability, questioning whether the blame was for system vendors, revenue officials, or county leadership. The EACC is already investigating several county projects worth millions of shillings.

The newspaper reports that police in Murang’a have launched an investigation into the controversial death of a woman whose body was brought to the Kangari police station by a taxi driver who was charged to transport it as a package.
The authorities said the woman, believed to be between the ages of 45 and 50, was diagnosed with blankets, clothes and paper bags.
The driver explained that he was transporting passengers from Makboki to Kangari on Tuesday when a man wearing a black hat and jeans pants stopped him, demanding that he send a package he claimed to have been sent to Nairobi.
The visitor paid cash and even pretended to call the recipient.
When they arrived at the Kangari forum, no one came to pick up the package. While increasing suspicion of his weight and closure, the driver, with the help of the passenger, took the package to the police station.
The officers opened it and found the woman’s body dressed in red but without underwear.
