Chebet has gained popularity as the best female athlete of the recent years, with her victory in Tokyo strengthening her role among the most prominent Kenyan athletes.
He now stands with Vivian Cheruiyot, Faith Kipyegon, and Hellen Obiri as one of the few Kenyan women who won the 5000 -meter world title.
How Chebet, Kipyegon won gold and silver
Chebet defeated his colleague, Nadia Battocletti, and Gudaf Tsegay to win his second gold medal in Tokyo.
The double Olympic champion from Paris spent 14: 54.36, Kipyegon finished 14: 55.07, with Battocletti recording a 14: 55.42.
Another Kenyan on the field, Agnes Jebet Ngetich, finished 15th. Kipyegon and Chebet’s main opponent, Gudaf Tsegay finished fifth.
Chebet won the 10,000 -meter gold for women earlier in the competition, with Kipyegon winning the fourth crown of 1500 meters. Kenya has now won five gold medals in the 2025 article.
