Jairus Kipchoge Birech: Former Race Jump Star

The winner of the silver medal in the Kenyan Community Competition Jairus Kipchoge Birech has passed away, according to his family. The cause of death has not been confirmed.

Kesses MP Julius Rutto confirmed the information on his Facebook page. He praised the athlete and gave his condolences to the family.

“We are deeply saddened by the sudden death of our 3000 -meter jumping star, Jairus Kipchoge Birech. Discipline, dedication and talent in the race brought great pride to our nation. We celebrate his inheritance and ask for comfort for his family and athletes.

Birech represented Kenya in the World Championship but never won a medal.

He finished fourth in the finals of the jump in 2015 in Beijing. He won the silver medal at the Commonwealth Competition in the 2014 article in Glasgow.

He never had a chance to represent Kenya at the Olympics. Birech registered the best time of 7: 58.41, which is the 12th fastest time in history.
