Bungoma: DCI Officer Headhatua Shooting Unfortunately in court, 5 people injured

The ordinary morning in the Bungoma court turned into a state of turmoil after a fatal gun accident left five people suffering from injuries.

The incident took place on Tuesday at four o’clock in the morning in the High Court No. 2, in which an official of the Criminal Investigation Department (DCI) was attending the case.

How did the officer’s shooting injure 5 people in the Bungoma court?

According to the police, the officer shot one Luck Bad from his pistol, and the bullet jumped into the courtroom and hit the people around.

Bungoma County Police Commissioner Adamson Njagi confirmed the incident, saying the officer involved was handling a living case when the accident occurred.

“The incident came to 10:30 in Bungoma courts, especially the High Court No. 2. One officer of DCIwho is an investigative officer in the case, shot one unfortunately from his Ceska pistol, and the shooting jumped and injured five people in small quantities, ” Njagi said.

The shooting injured a prison officer on the neck. Two male civilians and one female citizen were also injured, while the officer himself suffered a minor injury to the navel.

What did the police say about the shooting incident in the Bungoma court?

Police said all victims were quickly taken to hospital, received treatment and reports said they were in good condition.

Njagi added that the officer of the officers had already confirmed the courtroom and analyzed the area to gather evidence for further analysis.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the shooting to be hit by accident and if there was a shortage in security procedures.

“We have visited the scene and analyzed it. The victims have been transported to hospital and are in good condition,” Njagi said.

He also ensured the audience and the courts that steps are being taken to prevent such events from happening again.

“We want to make sure the court is safe and we cooperate in this. he added.

How the judge was shot to death in the Nairobi court

This rare incident within the court has sparked debate over armed procedures within court buildings.

In June 2024, a similar shocking incident occurred within the courts of Makadara where the chief minister Monica Kivuti was shot during a court session.

The attacker was identified as police chief Samson Kipruto, who shot the judge after a decision against his wife in a fraud case.
