A doctor in Wolverhampton has been suspended for about a year after he confessed to stealing the patient’s money by a colleague, and using their bank cards for fraudulent purchases.

Dr Sandra Ndirika, a urinary trainer at Royal Wolverhampton Hospital NHS Trust, admitted two charges of theft and seven fraudulent offenses for false representation in the City Court 2023.

The doctor received a suspended jail of 32 weeks in January 2024 for his immoral actions.

What are the claims against Sandra Ndirika?

The Court of Doctors’ Service (MPTS) found it was unpleasant to practice, deciding that its actions would weaken trust in the medical profession.

The MPts heard that Ndika had removed the wallets from the patient during the clinic at the peak of the Covid-19 catastrophe.

The BBC report revealed that he stole KSh 5,256 and made a patient bank card, then used it to make online purchases on May 22, 2023.

Ndika made things worse as he also falsely represented as the card holder during these activities.

The second victim was a nurse whose bank card Ndirika took from a wallet left in the staff room and used it to import food online.

During the court, Ndirika acknowledged the allegations made against him when interviewed by the police with caution.

He told the panel that there was no meditation, saying his mind was in the fog at the time and that he acted without thinking, feeling just ashamed later.

The court record, which was revealed to the privacy, said that Ndikri identified himself as still at the beginning of his journey towards a meaningful change and expected to be ready to return to work in the future.

It was also noted that he had been involved in ongoing professional development to update his clinical knowledge.

Why did the court decide against Sandra Ndika?

Despite its claims, the panel focused on the seriousness of the offenses, citing the behavior that directly violates the expectation that doctors must be honest and honest.

“These were not special events but a characteristic style where the doctor took the opportunity of his patient and his vulnerable colleague,” The court said.

In response to the situation, the panel admitted that Ndirika expressed regret and tried to apologize to the complainants, although his pardon was rejected.

However, it concluded that there was a risk of recurrence due to his failure to show adequate understanding of the impact of his actions or to take action towards true arbitration.

As a result, the court suspended its medical registration for 12 months from August 22, with a review case scheduled for the end of the suspension period to determine if he could return to the gym safely.

In a statement, Royal’s Chief Medical Officer Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Dr Brian McKaig, confirmed that Ndika had been suspended as soon as the hospital knew the allegations.

Elsewhere, Frédéric Péchier, a 53 -year -old French physician, is charged in Besançon, France, accused of poisoning 30 patients deliberately between 2008 and 2017, resulting in the deaths of 12 people.

The victims, aged 4 to 89, were treated at the Saint-Vincent and Franche-Comté polyclinic clinic.

Péchier allegedly contaminated vascular bags containing substances such as potassium and lidocaine to cause heart attack during regular surgery, thus allowing him to intervene rapidly and show his life restoration skills.
