Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has confirmed the arrest of 11 suspects linked to Binzaro’s deaths.

Investigators have discovered a detailed cemetery containing tens of thousands of bodies and remains of people in the area in the famous Chakama ranch.
The Binzaro case has a horrible similarities to the murder of Shakahola that shocked the nation in 2023.

Detectives say that the new sect ordered followers, including women and children, to fast to death as part of the last day’s faith. Children were first targeted, followed by women and men.
Kaja, who visited the area on Wednesday, September 3, said police had fired 34 bodies and found 102 human remains, including frauds.
He added that the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is collaborating with investigative teams to identify the cause of the death and put together how the victims were drawn from the ritual.
“Regarding investigations issues we have actually sent our detective squad and we will soon come up with a full investigative case. Another thing I would like to inform the public is that we have also arrested 11 suspects, four of them are the main suspects and one, Sharleen Temba Anido is the leading. However, I do not want to say much about it,” Kanja told reporters.

During his visit, a state of unconsciousness erupted when journalists accompanied by Inspector General were prevented from entering parts of the tomb.
Some were prevented from reporting directly, while others were instructed to share information with their peers.
Police have declared the Kwa Binzaro area a crime, and ceased further extraction until the examination of the bodies already found.

Kaja revealed that preliminary investigations show that most of the victims were not locals from Kilifi.
Detectives suspect that they were bought from abroad, with a strong stand, and later caused their deaths under worship orders.
“The investigators are on that, and soon we will know what happened, but we know that many people who have been brought here were bought from Asia; not locals. Kanja explained.

Elsewhere, Paul Mackenzie, leader of the Shakahola sect, told the Mombasa court that his life was in danger within the Tewa Maximum Pit prison.
