Political treaties are often hidden, but former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has decided to remove the curtain for what he calls the “stock” plan by President William Ruto.

Speaking in a television interview on Tuesday, August 26, he said the program was intended to benefit Mount Kenya instead of votes during the 2022 general election.

Gachagua claimed that Ruto He gave him the responsibility of submitting 70 percent of Mount Kenya’s support, promising to return about 40 percent of the government.

These were, according to him, part of the gentleman’s agreement that would guarantee Mount Kenya its part of the state authority.

The former deputy president explained that the plan was not only for government appointments.

He also said they discussed development projects and reforms, including improvement in infrastructure, coffee and tea reforms, and low income guarantees for farmers.

“We made economic contracts with Ruto for four counties. It was okay. He asked me to submit votes, and I expected the following,” Gachagua said.

According to him, the compromise spread to eight of the 22 ministries of the Ruto Cabinet. However, he acknowledged that the final appointment was by the president’s decision.

Gachagua emphasized that the agreement was never written in writing but was sealed with trust.

He noted that although Western Kenyan officials reportedly claimed a written agreement with Ruto, Mount Kenya leaders relied on what he referred to as a gentleman’s agreement.
