Kishane Thompson noted that he is eager to get his legs in action, revealing that he has not competed in a while and would like to see what he can be able to achieve.

He added that being the fastest man in the world is a great feeling, but he does not like bragging about it like other athletes, aiming a subtle dig at Noah Lyles.

Femke Bol expressed her disappointment over not facing Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone in the 400m hurdles ahead of the World Championships.

Competing in the men’s 100m final, Noah Lyles clocked 9.79 seconds, crossing the finish line five thousandths of a second faster than Kishane Thompson.

“For me, Budapest is a nice experience, and I just want to come out here and have fun. To hear that I’m the world’s fastest man, it’s a joyful feeling,” Kishane Thompson shared in the Gyulai István Memorial pre-race press conference.

“I think some people brag about it more than I do, but I’m not really a bragger, but I like to enjoy myself. Naturally, we as athletes, our biggest competitors are ourselves and injuries.

“I didn’t know the meeting record was 9.84 seconds, but I’m not really going out there to light the track. I’ve not competed for a while, but I just want to get back on the track.”

After the Gyulai István Memorial, Kishane Thompson will head to the Diamond League Meeting in Silesia, where he will compete against three-time world 200m champion Noah Lyles. This will be the first time Noah Lyles and Kishane Thompson will be locking horns since the Paris Olympic Games.
