Kenya optimistic as Stars leads group ‘A’ of CHAN 24 – Kenya News Agency

As the 8th Edition of the CHAN 24 tournament enters day 10, Kenyans continue to place their hopes in their Team, the Harambee stars.

The Kenyan Team in group ‘A’ began the championship on a high note, thrashing DR Congo 1-0 and holding Angola to a 1-1 draw despite playing with one less player after Marvin Nabwire got a red card. The magic – Austin Odhiambo is the man of the game.

Having won their match against DR Congo and drew with Angola, Kenya leads the Group ‘A’ table with four points.

The Team is scheduled to face Morocco in a battle that is expected to be thrilling but difficult on Sunday 10th at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Austin Odhiambo, Kenya’s midfielder, converted a penalty in the 12th minute to equalise for Kenya against Angola. Kenya now leads group “A” with 4 points, followed by Morocco with 3 points and Angola with 1 point, with Zambia trailing with no points.

Harambee stars under Coach Benni McCarthy have had overwhelming patriotic support from fans led by President William Ruto, who not only appeared on the field to cheer alongside other enthusiasts but also promised a huge monetary boon to players.

Kenya qualified for CHAN 2024 as one of the three co-hosting nations, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, marking their historic debut in the competition.

The national team is determined to make a strong statement on home turf and showcase its progress on the continental stage.

CHAN 2024 was officially flagged off at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam on August 2nd and the curtains will come down at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, in Nairobi on August 30th.
