Mandera Senator Ali Roba has called for the arrest of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua For what he referred to as “negligence and danger” allegations involving President William Ruto and the Al-Shabaab terrorist group based in Somalia.

The anger of the former chief follows a series of Gachagua’s remarks during a conference in Olathe, Kansas, where the former DP claimed that Ruto held secret meetings with Al-Shabaab supporters during his visit to Mandera.
He also claimed that Kenya’s decision to suspend the application for ID applications in northern Kenya would allow terrorists to obtain identity documents and lead to a global security threat.

But Senator Roba denied the allegations and referred to it as a dangerous distortion of Ruto’s message.
“What President Ruto clearly said in Mandera is that the discriminatory and excessive bureaucracy that has for many years been discriminated against in society in the Northern Border District (NFD) must be abolished. To turn this open and fair position into a misconception of national security is apathy, dishonesty, and disrespectful people in northern Kenya,” he added.

Mandera North MP (MT) Bashir Abdullahi supported Roba’s views, accusing Gachaea of defiling the Somalis community and undermining the reputation of the country abroad.

What is the US request for the United States?
Previously, Gachagua called on the United States to impose sanctions on Ruto instead of punishing Kenya.
Gachagua called on Washington to maintain Kenya’s non -NATO ally and to avoid cutting off a military or intelligence relationship due to concerns about Ruto’s allegations of having ties to Sudan’s RSF and the killing of protesters.
He argued that preventing Ruto from entering the United States and allies would send a strong message without hurting ordinary Kenyans.
Gachagua has declared his intention to take away Ruto in 2027.
He has called on his allies in opposition to unite behind him to bring his former boss home to the next general election.
