President William Ruto He stood firm on Wednesday as questions arose about the change in Kenyan diplomatic balance.

The head of state made it clear that the country’s deep relations with China were deliberate and for the benefit of the nation, even if that angered traditional allies like the United States.
During a conference with private sector players, Ruto defended close cooperation with China, noting that several trade and investment agreements had already been obtained.
What does Kenya have to do with China?
He pointed out that while some international partners have expressed dissatisfaction, the success from the partnership was very worthwhile.
“We have concluded high -level negotiations with China, and they have agreed to the equality agreement. They have agreed to remove all tariffs on our tea, our coffee, avocado and all other agricultural sales,” Ruto said.
He held that Kenya’s foreign policy was not about choosing sides in international competitions, but about achieving economic growth.
Ruto acknowledged that the relationship between China and Kenya raised concerns from long -term partners, but emphasized that his trust depends on what is best for Kenya.
“We are now completing the two -part consensus, so in the next few months, we have to take advantage of that great market,” He said.
Is the United States angry with Kenya about its relationship with China?
“To some extent why I have problems with some of our friends, but it is something that I have to do for Kenya. It is for the benefit of Kenya. Some of our friends complain that we are doing so many business with China,” Ruto added.

The president added that on his recent visit to China, he had an open talk with his colleague Xi Jinping, focusing on a huge gap between Kenya imported products from China and the exports.
“That commercial balance is bad. And that’s why they have opened their markets for our agricultural products. And that’s good for Kenya. It’s the right thing to do,” He said.
He added that such talks continue with other countries such as India, Turkey and Canada.
Will the United States take away Kenya’s non -NATO state status?
His remarks came a few hours after the US Parliament, led by Senator James Risch, called for a re -evaluation of NATO’s non -NATO situation.
