In a statement released on Thursday, August 7, Amref Flying Doctors confirmed that one of their Cessna Citation XLS aircraft, 5Y-FDM registration, was involved in the crash.
The agency said the plane was coming from Wilson’s airport to Hargeisa, Somalia, before crashing in Mwihoko area.

The source of the accident
Although the official source of the accident had not yet been confirmed at the time, AMREF said it was ready to cooperate fully with aviation and emergency teams to determine the truth about the incident.
“We focus on the safety and well -being of those in the plane, and we provide full support to family and colleagues. We also provide all the support required to the relevant authorities while the investigation is underway,” It read part of their statement.
They asked for patience and understanding from the public while facing the situation with great care and care.
Witnesses tell the event
Residents witnessing the incident said the plane seemed to have technical problems in the air before crashing and hitting residential houses and then exploding.
One resident explained that the plane seemed to lose focus during the drop before hitting the roof of nearby homes.
