After a brief VAR review, referee Sadoualibrahamou canceled the yellow card and showed him a straight red card. The challenge seemed to be deprived of the opportunity to score goals, which always result in a red card.

Regulations say that:

“The error to be made outside the penalty area that deprives the scoring or open opportunity to score will be a red card.”

The red card came after Haramebe Stars goalkeeper, Byrneomondi failed to kill the ball following a back ball.
