Why Motorists Have Been Advised to Avoid Thika Road Ahead of Harambee Stars-Angola Clash

Nairobi drivers are advised to avoid Thika Road on Thursday unless traveling to the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) matches.

Nairobi motorists have been advised to steer clear of Thika Road this Thursday, August 7, as the city gears up for a high-stakes CHAN 2024 showdown between Harambee Stars and Angola at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

With all tickets sold out and tens of thousands of fans expected at the 48,000-seater stadium, the National Police Service has rolled out road closures and diversions to ease congestion and boost security around match venues.

According to Joseph Chirchir, Officer Commanding Traffic in Nairobi County, Thika Road will be restricted to stadium-bound traffic only on Thursday. If you’re not headed to Kasarani, use alternative routes, namely Kiambu Road, Limuru Road or the Eastern Bypass.
