The accident happened on Wednesday morning, August 6.

A truck transporting cooking fuel allegedly lost focus after the brakes failed to work; It hit the bodaboda staff and other traders.

Eyewitnesses said the truck hit a tuk-tuk on the way before colliding with a probox car.

The collision also affected motorcycles and vendors along the road, including women who sold tomatoes, were trapped in the tragic event.

Police arrived at the scene with a breakdown to remove the remains of the truck, while Kisii County emergency forces rescued victims.

Prior to the arrival of emergency ministers, some witnesses used the tragic incident to loot the oil from the overturned truck.

They were caught fighting for the product from the overturned car.

In recent times, the safety of businesses in the sidewalks has been a concern for authorities following an increase in fatal accidents in those areas.

How the truck interrupted the lives of 52 people in Londiani

Earlier, 52 people died in an accident in the Londiani area, Kericho County, after a truck hit traders on the road.

45 people lost their lives on the spot, while seven others died of injuries in hospital.

The trailer was heading towards Kericho when it lost focus and hit parked passenger cars, vendors, and bodaboda operators in the area without realizing the danger that came to them.

To reduce such incidents, the Ministry of Roads and Transportation ordered the relocation of markets in road parks.

The ministry announced plans to cooperate with county governments to establish safe markets away from roads, with the National Road Authority (KENHA) being tasked with building roads to enter the markets.

Muhoron’s accident cost the lives of 9 people

In other news, a fatal accident happened recently on Londiani-Muhoroni Road, especially in the Kipsitet, Koguta area, causing death.

According to police reports, the driver of the Mercedes Benz truck lost direction and got into the side of the small passenger car Kisumucausing a serious accident.

Nine people, including the driver of the truck, died instantly. Their bodies were taken to St Vincent Mission Hospital for diagnosis.

Three other people – one child and two adults – suffered serious injuries and admitted to Muhoroni County Hospital for treatment.
