A 69 -year -old man has been brutally murdered in a shocking home abuse involving his wife and brother -in -law in Chingola.

Copperbelt Police Commander, Pethias Siandenge, confirmed the incident in a statement he made to the media, referring to the deceased as Edward Kateule.
According to a Nkani report, Kateule died after a violent conflict between him and his wife, Abigail Namwelu, 44, along with his brother Abigail named Mutale Alex.
According to a police report, the attack caused by home disputes took place on the night of August 3 to the morning of August 4, 2025.
It is believed that the conflict began as a family dispute between Katele and Namwelu, where they were both reported to be drunk at the time.
The situation worsened when his brother Namwelu, Alex, joined the violence and helped beat the old man.
“The situation ran, and Mr Kateule was attacked with great brutality. His body was found the following morning by a member of the Community Criminal Prevention Unit, John Ngosa,” Siandenge said.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Kateule’s body with obvious wounds, including swollen head, blood nostrils, large bruises, and burning marks.
The bloodstream, which is suspected of being used in such a brutal attack, was found near the body.
Siandenge confirmed that Abigail Namwelu had been arrested and was in police custody, while Mutale Alex was still not found.
The murder file has been opened and an investigation is underway to find the suspect.
The deceased’s body has been transferred to the mortuary of Nchanga North North Hospital, where you are waiting for surgery.
Police have called on people with information about Mutale Alex to come out and assist in ensuring that he is arrested.
The incident has rocked the local community, where residents have called on the government to take strong and immediate action against the perpetrators of Nyumbani.

In another incident, a family quarrel turned into a disaster after a police officer turned his wife and his wife’s brother’s brother.
The officer, identified as a Funkuta Muyembi, used an AK-47 military rifle to kill them both before shooting and suicide, leaving three bodies in the same room.
Reports say that the two former lovers had been separated just two days before the incident, but no one expected such a horrible end.
The young woman was buried in a traumatic funeral that touched many, and the community was left wondering what happened that morning of disaster.
