Was Ferdinand Waititu released on bail?
In a decision made on Thursday, July 13, Supreme Court Judge Lucy Njuguna ordered the release of the former county boss for a $ 53 million bond while awaiting a hearing for his appeal.
Earlier Judge Njuguna had rejected two attempts by the Waititu lawyers team to seek bail.

Earlier, the politician had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court, unsuccessfully opposed his sentence.
This is because the court dismissed its original request for bail. In a recent appeal, Waititu amended his request and presented additional grounds and evidence to enable him to gain his independence.

Was Waititu sentenced to 12 years in prison?
Previously, Waititu had been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted in a corruption case of KSh 588 million.
The politician and his wife had been brought before the chief magistrate Thoman Nzioki in the anti -corruption court.

They were convicted in accordance with their charges, which include the purchase of fraud, the misuse of the office, among other charges filed against them.
Regarding the charge of conflict of interest, Waititu was sentenced to seven years in prison and an alternative fines of KSh 51 million.
He was sentenced to five years in prison for a different charge, and accumulated a total of years that had to be consumed up to 12 years or a fines of KSh 53.5 million.
On the other hand, Waititu’s wife, Susan Wangari, was sentenced to one year in prison or a fine that was equivalent to KSh 500,000.
