The bus carrying fans at the opening ceremony of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 was set on fire.

Where and when did the bus event come from?
The bus has been set on fire in Bushini, Malenve County, Kwimba District, Mwanza region north of Tanzania.
The bus with the registration of the Misungwi district teachers had a total of 45 passengers at the time of the crash.
The driver saw the fire immediately and made sure that all passengers went down before it spread.

Mwanza Regional Police Commander DCP Wilbrod Mutafungwa confirmed that no one was lost. He further explained that the bus began to provide a lot of smoke before burning.

Mutafungwa added that preliminary investigations have shown that it was an electrical fault that caused the fire.

When is the opening ceremony of Chan 2024 matches?
The opening ceremony will take place on August 2 at Benjamin Mkapa stadiums in Dar es Salaam.
More than 800 leaders are expected to attend, with the country’s Prime Minister Kassim Majali being listed as the official guest. Kenya’s sports minister, Salim Mvurya, is also expected to decorate the event.
Bongo Flava staircase, Rayvanny will lead the entertainment while Tanzania seems to be on fire for the coming month.
After the festivities, National Stars will face Burkina Faso in the opening match of the tournament.

CAF sets security measures before Chan 2024
CAF has also increased its security measures while preparing for the first CHAN Championship which will be organized jointly by three countries.
The board’s security chief, Christian Emeruwa, revealed that they had received bail from the three countries before the tournament.
