Githunguri Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba has called for urgent and strategic efforts to tap into the talents, energy, and numbers of the Gen Z population following an engaging and lively forum with young people.
Wamuchomba, who spent the better part of Monday, July 21, 2025, interacting with youth in what she described as the “Genzi Nation,” participated in a sensitisation session focusing on career opportunities and awareness of gender-based violence (GBV).
The event blended education with entertainment, featuring vibrant dance, slang, and youth-led performances.
“So today I spent time with the Genzi Nation,” she wrote in a light-hearted social media post shared on her official X account on Monday, July 21, 2025.
“The fun, the energy, and the style is really in the Ozone.”
While praising their creativity and engagement, Wamuchomba humorously admitted struggling to keep up with their modern dance styles and slang.
“My biggest problem was that I couldn’t catch up with their dancing styles and the language. I only remember Nakulobotov maathee siku zote,” she said.
Investing in Gen Z talent
Despite her playful tone, Wamuchomba’s message carried a serious undertone. She urged stakeholders, both in government and civil society, to find structured ways of investing in Gen Z talent, especially in the creative arts, digital economy, and civic engagement.
“As you watch (the videos), we MUST get a way of tapping these talents, energy, and numbers,” she stressed.
Wamuchomba has been vocal in advocating for youth inclusion, especially in national development conversations.

Wamuchomba on youth talent
This comes just a week after the lawmaker made a passionate call for renewed focus on youth empowerment through sports, expressing deep concern over the neglect of grassroots talent development in Kenya.
She urged the government to push an agenda that resonates with a generation seeking hope and meaningful change and may signal a broader shift in political discourse ahead of future elections.
In a statement on her X account on Monday, July 14, 2025, in response to recent youth-led protests, Wamuchomba highlighted the energy and potential of Kenya’s young people.
“I watched a lot of media clips of maandamano kimbikimbi (protests run). I have concluded that our young people are talented and very energetic,” she said.
Wamuchomba, who has often been outspoken on issues affecting youth, outlined her vision for a future where sports are given strategic national attention.
“When I am president, I will saturate every ward with government official sports academies, fully funded and ready to tap into the talents,” she declared. Instead of exporting labour, I will exploit Kenyan talents to the benefit of the players,” the statement read.
