Opposition leaders have intensified their criticism against the President’s government William Rutoplanning under the ‘Wantam’ agenda – a strategic plan aimed at ensuring that Ruto serves only one term while vowing to revive the national economy.

However, Ruto has emphasized that he will be re -running for the presidency, referring to his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and fulfilling what he refers to as a divine command given to him in 2022.

Who will be a presidential candidate for opposition?

According to the document which Ktn News found it, a new opposition coalition is being organized for the 2027 election.

The coalition includes Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Rigathi Gachagua, Fred Matiang’i, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, Justin Muturi, and Governor George Natembeya.

The leaders are about to complete the official list of candidates who will represent the team in the next general election.

The coalition has indicated that Kalonzo has emerged as the proposed candidate as the presidential flag, due to his leadership experience and his strong position in leading the opposition after the formation of a hybrid government.

However, his deputy name is still being discussed, with Matiang’i, Malwa, and Natembeya being highlighted as candidates for the position.

The statement also suggests that Natembeya may be persuaded to re -run the governor of Trans Nzoia. If he fails, he may be appointed to the post of Minister of Internal Security.

If either Matiang’i or Malwa is to be elected a fellow candidate, the remaining one will be considered for the position of the Senate Speaker.

What role will Gachagua hold in the new opposition?

Gachagua, who is also the leader of the Democracy for Citizens, is expected to continue to hold the position of Prime Minister, in all proposed plans, thus preserving the great influence within the opposition camp.

Karua has been proposed as Speaker of the National Assembly, while Muturi is proposed to return as Attorney General, the position he has held in the government Kenya first for approximately two years.

Political analyst Gitile Naituli said that the coalition could be successful if it avoided the internal competition.
