Nairobi County Environment Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has come to the aid of a homeless Kenyan-Indian woman suffering from advanced diabetes and a severe diabetic foot condition.

The intervention came after a concerned Nairobi resident reached out to Mosiria via social media, asking for help.

In a heartfelt statement shared via his official X account on the night of Monday, July 21, 2025, Mosiria narrated how he received the distress call from a follower who told him, “I’m not calling you for official business, but I’ve seen how you help people.”

“WHY DO WE IGNORE SUCH PEOPLE HONESTLY? Today, I responded to a distress call from a Nairobi resident who follows me on social media. She told me, “I’m not calling you for official business, but I’ve seen how you help people.” She explained that there was a Kenyan-Indian lady who has been living on the streets for quite some time, suffering greatly from diabetes and a severe diabetic foot,” Mosiria stated.

The resident reported that the woman had been living on the streets in dire condition and urgently needed medical attention.

Immense pain

Mosiria, in his statement, says he responded immediately and went to the scene, where he found the woman in immense pain and visibly distressed.

After speaking with her and learning about her tragic circumstances, he personally took her to Mbagathi Hospital, where she was assessed and admitted for treatment.

“I immediately went to the location, and indeed, I found the lady in immense pain. She shared with me her heartbreaking story and how she ended up homeless with no place to call home. I was moved by her situation and offered to help her. I took her to Mbagathi Hospital, where she was assessed and admitted for treatment,” he stated.

Tracing family

He has since appealed to the public to help trace the woman’s relatives.

“I will continue to follow up on her progress until she is well again. If anyone knows her or her family members, kindly reach out to me on +254720836634,” he wrote on X.
