This is after investigators revealed that the CCTV cameras once again in the ward where the killings occurred did not work, similar to the murder of another patient that had not been resolved.

Edward Mungi Ndegwa, 54, was found dead on Thursday, July 17, in a 7B ward in a throat, showing the February 39 murder of Gilbert Kinyua of the 7C ward.

Both deaths occurred within one part of the hospital, in the same style, and under the same amazing conditions.

Investigating officials say their investigation has involved Kennedy Kalombotole, a long -term patient at the hospital, and both killings.

How did DCI investigate without CCTV?

Despite the lack of CCTV images, detectives from the Office of the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) claim to have collected environmental evidence.

The evidence used included blood -stained slippers found under the kalombotole bed and a kitchen knife believed to be a murder weapon.

The discovery of the winter was also made directly under the seven -story ward window; A knife wrapped in gloves, which is believed to have been thrown out after the murder.

Since then it has been taken for professional investigations as security agencies are struggling to resolve the killings that have put them back in the spotlight.

The disclosure that the diagnostic cameras were reduced during both killings has raised serious questions about KNH’s commitment to patients’ safety, especially after the hospital promised to improve its security systems following the first killings.

Earlier KNH had assured parliamentarians and the public that it was strengthening monitoring with staff to counter the Kinyua massacre, which has not yet been resolved.

But five months later, another patient is dead and the promised safety improvement appears to have not been implemented.

Kalombotole’s lawyer, Philip Maiyo, insists that his client is used as a goat for punishment.

He claimed that Kalombotole, who is homeless and suffers from diabetes and many mental health problems, has been unfairly targeted.

“The DPP could not approve the charges because they do not have enough evidence. The relative is very sick, he has no sound, suffering from three known situations, somehow this man was able to commit murder and hide evidence so he could hide it … this is a circus … it must end,” Maiyo said while not believing.

Why was Kalombotole still living in Knh?

Kalombotole was first admitted to KNH’s intensive care unit (ICU) in KNH in November 2022 and has been left under various oversight since then, with the hospital struggling to find another place to be admitted due to its relative lack or identity documents.

Following the death of Kinyua, he was marked by detectives as a person of interest but was not charged for lack of sufficient evidence.

Now, with the second murder taking place under similar circumstances, investigators say they are ready to be charged.

But the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has not yet given a permit, asking more questions.
